Lake County Fair
Grayslake, IL
Living in Lake County for 8 years, how had I not been to the Lake County Fair? This year I am glad I made time to take the kids to their first fair experience.
Our first stop was the Monster Trucks. We were able to meet the drivers and get close-up to the trucks.
We grabbed some food, so many choices! The curly cheese fries were everyone’s favorite followed by the fresh lemonade.
Next, we headed inside to cool down in the air conditioning and see the exhibits. It was fun to teach the kids what 4-H is and explain the judging process. There were multiple photo opportunities to take inside as well.
It was great to see the Lake County Farm Heritage association there giving barrel rides for the kids. My kids will never pass up a barrel ride!
Then it was on to the livestock barns. These barns bring me back to my 4-H days when I used to show livestock. Oh, the memories!
The highlight of the night for my boys was the Motorcross racing. Each of my boys who are ages 2, 4, and 7 was really into watching the motorcycle races and them doing tricks.
Overall I was really impressed with the Lake County Fair. There was a lot to do and not a lot of long lines to deal with. This may have been because we went in the evening during the week rather than on the weekend. I even took the kids without any other adult to help and I easily was able to navigate and enjoy the fair. The Lake County Fair will defiantly be something I add to our summer bucket list for next year!
