Nashville Trip Part 1-Restaurants
One of my favorite things about traveling is all the fun and new restaurants you are able to try. During my trip to Nashville we ate out at a variety of places from low key breakfast joints to fun bars for dinner. We didn’t go out to any fancy places, Nashville might have a handful, but what we saw were mainly casual restaurants. I often think casual are the best, espeically when you are going with a group of people. Here are my suggestions and reviews on where I ate while in Nashville.
The Frothy Monkey
– 2509 12th Ave South, Nashville
-Breakfast (also serve lunch/dinner)
The Frothy Monkey is very casual. In fact you place your order at the counter and then they bring it to you at a table. The food was your typical breakfast choices, I had the Tennessee French Toast which was french toast made with french bread served with eggs and a side of fruit. The espresso was a different story as in not your typical espresso choices. They had a variety of fun flavors from turtle to vanilla carmel, which was what I went with. So good!
The Pfunky Griddle
-2800 Bransford Ave, Nashville
-Breakfast (also serve lunch)
At The Pfunky Griddle you make your own pancakes or grilled cheese on a griddle in the middle of the table. I went with pancakes and you are able to choose what toppings you want to add to them (or in them). I went with my favorite banana and chocolate chips. They have other options such as wraps and sandwiches if you don’t want to use the griddle.
Jackson’s Bar & Bistro
– 1800 21st Ave S, Nashville
-Brunch (also serve lunch/dinner)
We went to Jackson’s Bar & Bistro after the race for Brunch. Of course I had a bloody mary to celebrate-spicy and delish. They also had a variety of flavors for mimosas. Highly recommend! I ate the Monte Cristo, Breakfast Quesadilla, and the Biscuits and Gravy. Although I just ran a half marathon I didn’t eat all that on my own, Stacy and I split it all. I hadn’t had a Monte Cristo in years (ham & cheese sandwich deep fried) it was sooo good! The bar also has a huge outdoor area.
Whiskey Kitchen
– 118 12th Avenue South, Nashville
-Dinner (also serve lunch)
Whiskey Kitchen was what I like to call fancy bar atmosphere. The choices to eat were your typical bar food with southern comfort food mixed in. I went with the Fried Chicken Buffalo Wrap and was not disappointed. Also be sure to try some local brew while you are there.
Other recommendations I wasn’t able to visit:
Pancake Pantry
-1796 21st Avenue South, Nashville
-Breakfast
-This place is a known spot for tourists. Line is usually at least 1 hour standing outside. After talking to locals we passed it up after hearing it wasn’t anything too special, however it is a legendary spot in the aera.
Puckett’s
-120 4th Ave South, Downtown Franklin
-Lunch
-A restaurant that will remind you of back in the day. A small grocery store combined into a restaurant.
Jack’s BBQ
– 416 Broadway, Nashville
-BBQ buffet style
The Loveless Café
-8400 Tennessee Hwy 100
-Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner
-legendary place to go to located outside of town about 20 minutes with a usual 1 hour wait time
