Blue Harbor Resort in the Winter
Sheboygan, WI
We had the best time at Blue Harbor Resort, one of the only waterpark resorts on the shoreline of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin! From splashing at the waterpark to playing a round of miniature golf, to dining at the onsite restaurants and winning prizes at the arcade, we enjoyed it all!
Our family had a busy week celebrating Christmas but didn’t have much scheduled over the second half of winter break. David and I had time off for work at year-end and decided to celebrate the end of the holiday season in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
What to know about Blue Harbor Resort before you visit.
- Sheboygan, WI is located 2 1/2 hours north of Chicago and 1 hour north of Milwaukee. An easy drive, right off the interstate.
- The 54,000 sq ft indoor waterpark has something for all ages and at 84 degrees is comfortable on those cold winter days.
- Be sure to check the waterpark hours. During the off-season, the waterpark is only open on weekends.
- Currently, the waterpark is not open to non-resort guests. You must be staying at Blue Harbor to enjoy the waterpark.
- You get access to the waterpark the afternoon before check-in at 1 PM as well until 4 PM the next day.
Accommodations at Blue Harbor Resort
The resort offers on-site hotel rooms that are all suites, including some that are themed. In addition, there are options to stay in villas, which are located just across the parking lot from the main resort. We opted for a Boat House suite in the main hotel, which included five waterpark passes.
The suite included a bunk bed and a separate twin bed in a private boathouse area for the kids. This layout worked great for our three boys. They even had their own wall-mounted TV to use.
The main living area included a queen-size bed, a pull-out couch, a wet bar area with a small refrigerator and sink, a table, and two chairs, as well as a cozy fireplace. There was an attached roomy bathroom with a shower/tub.
Amenities at Blue Harbor Resort
The reason we chose Blue Harbor for our winter getaway was for the waterpark. We wanted a place for the kids to burn off energy, have fun, and have a warm environment without the price of a plane ticket.
Breaker Bay Waterpark truly has something for everyone. There is a toddler area that includes a double slide, a tunnel slide, and interactive water fixtures. My younger two boys enjoyed racing each other down the double slide.
There are many interactive water sprayers throughout the waterpark. These were fun for all of us, we had some laughs spraying each other. All of us enjoyed the lazy river together too.
There are two tube slides, which allow you to ride double on. My six-year-old and I had a lot of fun on those. There are also two body slides, a large pool with a ropes course, as well as a basketball hoop. Two features we didn’t partake in due to the ages of the children were the wave simulator, which looks like a lot of fun, and the hot tub. Someday!
In addition to the waterpark, the resort has an arcade and indoor mini-golf course for activities. Both are located conveniently right next to the waterpark. The mini-golf course is glow-in-the-dark and fun for all ages. Even my two-year-old was able to play.
Restaurants at Blue Harbor Resort
The resort has two restaurants, a grab-and-go cafe, as well as a snack bar in the waterpark. We had dinner at the On the Rocks Bar & Grill. The food was tasty and they had a nice menu of holiday drinks. The Rocky Bottom snack bar was convenient when hunger struck while we were at the waterpark. The enormous popsicles were a hit with my kids.
Blue Harbor Resort was a great choice for an overnight this winter.
We would defiantly recommend Blue Harbor Resort as a family getaway in the winter. I think it is best for younger families when you do not want a large waterpark that can be difficult to keep eyes on the kids, but still enough to do to keep you busy for hours. The holiday decorations were beautiful, but it would be fun to come back and enjoy the outdoor pool durinig the summer.
