Books I read in Q4 of 2022.
I am sharing the books I read during the fourth quarter of 2022. I give two ratings, Recommend or Couldn’t Put Down. For a book to get a Recommend rating, it had to be one I stayed engaged in and thoroughly enjoyed. A Couldn’t Put Down book rating is one I literally wanted to keep reading whenever I could. If there is no rating, the book didn’t meet the criteria to be rated.
I read eleven books during the fourth quarter. Of those eleven, six were non-fiction and five were fiction. The books are listed in the order I read them.
Better than Before

You Are Not a Sh*tty Parent: How to Practice Self-Compassion and Give Yourself a Break
by Carla Naumburg
I have enjoyed Carla Naumburg’s parenting books but this one fell flat. Start with her book How to Stop losing Your Sh*t with Your Kids before this one. Her books do make you feel like you are a good parent and to not be so hard on yourself.
Genre: Nonfiction/Parenting

Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories
by Kelly Ripa
Short stories that Kelly Ripa has written about her life. This book had me laughing out loud at some points. It truly feels like Kelly is talking to you as you read through. A fun read to pick up and lots of references to motherhood that I enjoyed.

Carrie Soto Is Back
by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Another book by Taylor Jenkins Reid that did not disappoint me. This story is about a tennis player and her coming out of retirement. The relationships in this book with her Dad and boyfriend add complexity to the story. Even if you are not a tennis lover this book will keep you interested.
Genre: Fiction/Sports
My Rating: Recommend
Book 33:2022
10 Blind Dates
by Ashley Elston
10 Blind Dates is truly a Young Adult book. I couldn’t get into this one but the storylines did keep me reading to find answers. I think my younger high school self would have enjoyed this book much more.
Genre: Fiction/Christmas Romance

Simply Christmas: A Busy Mom’s Guide to Reclaiming the Peace of the Holidays: A Devotional
by Tama Fortner
I read three Christmas devotionals this year and this was my favorite of the three. The book includes thirty-one encouraging devotions and guides to simplify your Christmas as a busy Mom. I enjoyed the ideas of ways to simplify the hustle and bustle of the season and to remember to keep the season centered on Jesus’s birth.

Another fun loving romance by authors Chirstina Lauren but this one adds in the magic of the holidays. Add this to your winter read list next year.
