Cutting down our Christmas Tree
Spring Grove, IL
In past years we have taken the easy route and bought our real Christmas tree from our local Home Depot. This worked well for us over those years of having small children. However, our children aren’t as small anymore and I was ready to actually cut down our Christmas tree, like I did growing up. This year we went to Richard’s Christmas Tree Farm to get our tree.
After jumping on the hayrack to take us further out into the fields we were on a mission to find our perfect tree. All of their trees are one set price, no matter the size. It didn’t take us long to find the one for us.
Once the tree was approved by everyone in the family Caden and Connor took the saw and started cutting the tree down.
We did have to wait some time for the hayrack to come back to get us and our tree. Thankfully it was a sunny warm day, a perfect day to cut down a tree.
Once we got back, they shook out the tree and wrapped it for us. They even helped in tieing down the tree to our car.
You can’t cut down a Christmas tree without having some hot chocolate afterward. They sold fresh donuts that we had to try out as our hot chocolate cooled. Delicious!
We were excited to get our tree home and decorate it. I do have to say we had a much fresher tree that barely lost needles since we cut it down ourselves. This was a great new tradition!
