Legoland Florida
Winter Haven, FL
While vacationing in southern Florida for a week I added a trip up to Legoland Park to our agenda. I wanted to take the kids to a theme park and Legoland was more affordable than some of the other parks. This ended up being a perfect side trip for our family.
What to know about Legoland Florida before you visit.
- The park is located in Winter Haven, Florida, which is in central Florida about 45 minutes southwest of Orlando.
- There are three theme parks at the resort location including Legoland Theme Park, Legoland Waterpark, and Peppa Pig Theme Park.
- There is an option to buy a Day Pass or a Stay and Play pass which includes a hotel in addition to two days of park access to all three parks.
- The park is geared to children 2-12 years old.
- The park includes a variety of entertainment including family rides, live shows, building workshops, meet and greets, dining, and shopping and attractions.
- Download the Legoland Florida Resort app to have access to the interactive map, ride wait times, and dining locations.
What is included in the Stay and Play package.
- The stay and play is a vacation package that includes two days of access to all three parks plus a hotel stay.
- You pick which hotel to stay at in the resort from three options.
- Free full breakfast is included at the hotel restaurants.
- Easy access to the parks since you are onsite at the resort and there is no parking fee.
Things to do at the theme park.
Rides
There were rides that were available for a wide range of ages as well as a variety of types of rides. From family rides to individual, many of the rides all of my kids’ ages 2, 4, and 6 could go on altogether.
Miniland USA
This is an area of the park where there are legos built to distinguish different geographical areas in the USA. Plus some of the destinations are interactive such as the cars buzzing around at the Daytona Speedway and the space shuttle launching at Kennedy Space Center.
DUPLO Valley
DUPLO is an area in the park geared toward the toddler age. There are kid rides and play areas including a splash play with smaller fountains to cool off. Side note, I highly recommend using the bathrooms here. This area of the park seemed to be less busy with easy access to family bathrooms.
Imagination Zone
Something different about Legoland that I have not seen at other parks is how many activities are available that are hands-on. The Imagination Zone had lego bricks to build with and themed zones to test out your creations such as the speed of your car. It is located in an air-conditioned building which is great for cooling off.
Shopping
There are a few Lego stores throughout the park. We popped into The Big Shop located at the front of the park on our last day for each of the kids to get a souvenir. In addition to typical souvenirs, they sell Lego sets exclusively sold at the park.
Food
These are a variety of places to grab food that meets a variety of tastes. Compared to other parks the prices were very reasonable. We had Kickin Chicken that every one of us was happy with the chicken tenders and fries. The other day we had wraps and sandwiches from Panini Grill which was located inside Imagination Station. There are a variety of restaurants, food carts, and dessert stops. Using the Legoland mobile app was a huge help for navigating closeby places.
I highly recommend getting a Legoland original snack, the Granny’s apple fries. They are granny smith apples cut into fries and dusted with cinnamon and sugar, but now you can get a la mode. I want to go back to eat these again! So good!
Waterpark
Legoland Waterpark includes an interactive play area for younger kids. water slides, a lazy river, and a wave pool.
My kid’s favorite part of the waterpark was the wave pool. This might have been because they had never been to one before. While waiting for the wave to come on they enjoyed building with the styrofoam Legos at the Wave pool.
