Our Couples Trip to Nashville
Nashville, TN
I was finally able to make it back to Nashville! I visited years ago and had been wanting to take my husband, Dave who had never been. My best friend from college and her husband were up for the adventure. We did a three-night stay in Nashville and it was the perfect amount of time to eat southern food and enjoy the honkey tonks.
We decided to fly instead of drive since we were doing a quick trip and wanted to enjoy as much time in Nashville as possible. This was our first flight together since our honeymoon without kids. It only took 8 years…..
We arrived Thursday evening and checked into our hotel, The Kimpton Aerston Hotel, in the Midtown neighborhood. Then we headed out for dinner. Our plan was the famous Hattie B’s Hot Chicken just down the street, but after getting there and expecting a long line, we weren’t up to waiting in line for over an hour. Thankfully another great restaurant The Row Kitchen and Pub was just around the corner from there. We enjoyed fried pickles, pulled pork, brisket, hot chicken, and mac and cheese.
Then we headed over to Division Street and barhopped. It brought us back to our college days.
The next morning we took an Uber to the Germantown neighborhood. We enjoyed the best brunch at Von Elrod’s. The restaurant had a fabulous outdoor area and live music. This place combines their beer hall concept with an in-house butchery, bakery, wood grill and smoker. Included on their menu are bottomless bloody marys and mimosa that are served in a fun beer stein. If you go to Nashville I highly recommend adding this as a place to eat at. It was amazing food and such a fun concept.
Next, we headed to downtown Nashville. Although we could have walked to downtown it was scorching hot, so we opted for a ride. The heat is similar to Midwest in July.
We ventured to various honkey tonks. Dierk Bentley’s bar and Tootsie’s were a couple of our favorites. The bands that were playing were absolutely amazing! There really is nothing like listening to live music in Nashville.
For our last full day in Nashville, we enjoyed brunch at Tavern just down the street. Then took some rest at the rooftop pool for the afternoon before enjoying our last southern dinner at Husk.
Then it was back to Chicago on Sunday to be reunited with our kiddos. I can’t recommend Nashville enough for a long weekend away with adult friends. It was just what we needed to catch up and have fun.
