Our stay at Kimpton: The Journeyman hotel
Milwaukee, WI
- The Kimpton Journeyman hotel was our choice for our weekend away. I did research on a few of the highly-rated hotels in downtown Milwaukee and this one grabbed my attention as an upscale and sleek place to stay without the kids.
- The warmth and laid-back charm in the boutique hotel were exactly what we were looking for in a hotel for a weekend in the Midwest in February.
What to know about The Journeyman before you visit.
- The hotel is located in the historic Third Ward neighborhood in downtown Milwaukee.
- Parking is cheaper through a parking app otherwise you will need to pay for valet.
- The location is walkable to almost everything you want to visit downtown, even in the winter.
Accommodations at The Journeyman
The rooms are comforting and have Midwest charm. The art and decor include historic memorabilia of Milwaukee. The hallway with wood floors opens to the main room. The bathrooms are modern including multiple features for the lighting.
One hotel employee surprised us with a birthday perk which was kept cold in the hidden refrigerator.
Amenities at The Journeyman
One perk the hotel boasts is the nightly happy hour at 5 PM. Located in the front lobby the employees serve up local tapped beer and wine by the glass. It is the perfect spot for people watching out the large windows and enjoying the warm fire.
Tre Rivali is the hotel restaurant that serves Mediterranean-inspired Modern American cuisine with expertly crafted cocktails. The restaurant is intimate with sitting areas broken up. The food options are plentiful.
In addition, the hotel has a roof-top bar called The Outsider located on the 9th floor. The indoor/outdoor bar has glass walls that make it a great destination for all seasons. A trellis keeps things comfortable in the warmer months, along with cozy fire pits.
The Journeyman hotel was an excellent choice for our weekend away.
The location and winter coziness this hotel had was perfect for what we were looking for. I wouldn’t be staying at this hotel if our entire family was doing a weekend away. For an adult-only stay, the Journeyman is top-notch. The access to a highly rated restaurant and roof-top bar without stepping outside was a great bonus on a bitter-cold weekend.
