St. Patrick’s Day

The simple ways I added festivity to the day.

  • These ideas can be used from year to year at little cost and effort.
  • St. Patrick’s isn’t a big holiday for us, but the kids get excited about our traditions.

The big event of the day is the gold coin hunt. The leprechaun came into our home while we were sleeping, with his magic, and hid gold coins on our first floor. I hung green streamers I had for a little extra.

The coin hunt.

  • Small themed buckets are sat out along with St. Pat’s headbands.
  • The coins, buckets, and headbands are all reused from year to year.

The hidden leperchaun.

  • I found this stuffed leprechaun years ago and hide it along with the coins.
  • This is the BIG find if you are the child to locate him.
  • The hunt is a great game because it works for multiple ages.

Easy breakfast, made special.

  • I often have Trader Joe’s filled croissants on hand. If you haven’t bought these before, grab them. They are super simple to make. You let them rise overnight and then only have to put them in the oven for about twenty-five minutes in the morning.
  • I added some festive green sprinkles and powdered sugar to the top and a special on-theme breakfast was ready.

Dessert after Dinner

  • We don’t always let the kids have dessert after dinner, so getting it is usually special in itself.. I found a dessert that I knew I could easily whip up that was more than just a scoop of ice cream.
  • Pudding, mint, and green sprinkles were the key ingredients in this parfait recipe I found from Living in Yellow
